Piz Lagalb – 2900

Piz Lagalb sits at 2,900 m in the Swiss Alps and is used mostly in winter for dynamic soaring, on southwest, west and northwest winds. The launch changes with the season: in winter it's right beside the gondola station on a northwest exposure, and in summer it moves to the top of Lagalb, about a 15-minute hike, opening up west and southwest instead. One hazard is non-negotiable here: the gondola cables run close to the flying area, so overflying them with generous separation is essential, not optional — this is real infrastructure, not just an obstacle to note and forget. Airspace in this part of Switzerland is genuinely complex on top of that, so check current restrictions and active danger areas before you fly rather than relying on a previous visit.
