Soglio

Soglio launches from 1,504 m in the Swiss Alps, a big alpine pasture with plenty of room to work with, flyable in southeast, south and southwest wind — good for thermals and reachable on foot as a hike-and-fly site. Getting there is easy: reach the village of Soglio by public transport from the landing site or by car, then hike up about an hour to the lower takeoff. Watch your footing and your line on launch, since the pasture has both tall grass and grazing animals sharing the ground. The Val Bregaglia can produce quite strong valley wind in summer, so check that before committing to a flight. Landing is in a very large field west of Bondo — pick a spot where the grass has been cut short, and stay alert for electricity cables crossing the field.
