Urmiberg (Brunnen)

Urmiberg, above Brunnen on Lake Lucerne, launches from a steep grassy meadow right beside the cable car's upper station — a straightforward, no-nonsense start once you've got the steepness figured out. Getting up costs around 13 CHF (a return trip including take-off and landing fees), on a fixed timetable with extra runs when four or more passengers are waiting — bring cash, as that's the only way to pay. Landing is easy to find: a large meadow with a windsock, about a 10-minute walk from both the cable car and the car park, where the wind typically settles from the south-southwest to west. Thermals and hike-and-fly options both work here. As with most of Switzerland, Föhn conditions are worth watching, and the local airspace picture is worth a proper check before you fly.
