Where it is

winchFlatland XC

Adorf Schleppgelände is a winch-launch flatland site at around 400 m, working in northeast, southwest and west wind, run mainly as a flight-school training ground with operations limited to between 10:00 and 18:00. The area sits close to protected landscape features — hedges, tree rows, orchards, and the rocky west and south slopes of the Kahler Berg, which carry natural-monument status — so flying is kept well clear of all of them. Some of the access paths are closed to general traffic and need a special permit from the local authority to use, and farm and forestry tracks must always be left clear for agricultural vehicles. The grassland the site sits on stays working farmland: it's used only with the affected farmers' consent, and any damage from flying operations, such as to paths, has to be repaired right away. Equipment like windsocks and the winch itself only goes up for the duration of a flying day and comes back down afterward, with the area left tidy and any waste cleared out before everyone leaves.

Launch & conditions

A winch-launch site, flying northeast, southwest or west wind, with operations limited to 10:00–18:00 as this is primarily a flight-school training ground.

Getting there & local rules

Some access paths are closed to general traffic and need a special permit from the local authority; farm and forestry tracks must always stay clear for agricultural vehicles.

Local rules & hazards

The area borders protected landscape features — hedges, tree rows, orchards, and the natural-monument slopes of the Kahler Berg — which flying must not affect. The land is working farmland used only with the farmers' consent, and mobile equipment like the winch and windsocks is set up only for the day and cleared away afterward.

Check conditions before you fly

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Adorf Schleppgelände, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch.
