Where it is
Grüble is the higher of Tegelberg's two takeoffs, launching from around 1,507 m with room to catch north, west or northwest wind — a useful alternative when Rohrkopfsattel isn't facing the day's direction. Like the rest of the mountain, the launch sits on a ski slope and only opens once the ski season and daily ski operations are done for the day. The approach is the same as anywhere on Tegelberg: ride the cable car up (license and insurance proof required to board), carry a current briefing card, and keep your wing packed until you're actually in the start area. Coming down, the flight passes over the same iconic view toward Neuschwanstein castle before joining the shared landing pattern at the valley station — paraglider and hang glider approaches stay separate even though the field is shared.
Launch & conditions
Highest of Tegelberg's takeoffs at about 1,507 m, catching north, west or northwest wind; on a ski slope, so only flyable outside ski season and daily ski operations.
Getting there & local rules
Same access as the rest of Tegelberg: cable car up with pilot license and insurance proof shown at the valley station, plus a current briefing card before flying.
Local rules & hazards
Keep distance from the cable car line on descent and cross the road below at a minimum of 10 m. The landing area is shared with hang gliders and rigid wings under one landing pattern, with separate paraglider and hang glider zones — fly the pattern properly. Tandem flights are only run by approved operators; private tandem flying isn't permitted.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Tegelberg SP Grüble, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Tegelberg SP Grüble with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
