Where it is

Treisberg is a northwest-facing launch in western Germany that only opens up after a briefing from the site holder — this isn't a site to fly cold. The trees below launch need real height to clear; if a pilot can't get enough margin over them, the safe call is to land straight back in the launch area rather than push on. Getting to the landing field means keeping real height in hand the whole way: the road below has to be crossed with at least 50 meters to spare, and the power line needs a clean margin too. Vehicles can't park at launch or use the access track — everyone uses the public car park at the edge of town instead. The launch field itself is working farmland, closed to entry from May through July until it's been mowed, and beyond the pilots themselves, the meadow is off-limits: no spectators, no picnicking, no dogs.

Check conditions before you fly

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Treisberg, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Treisberg with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
