Where it is
Cabo de Santa Pola launches at 113 m near Gran Alacant, on Spain's Costa Blanca not far from Alicante, and flies with wind from the northeast through east to southeast, right off the coast. Takeoff sits just behind the Olivo de Oro residential area, reached from Alicante Airport via the N-332 toward Santa Pola and Torrevieja, taking the Gran Alacant exit and then heading toward Olivo de Oro; a short path off the second entrance leads to launch. Because the site lies within controlled airspace (a CTR), flying here isn't a simple walk-up affair: registration is required before you fly, so plan ahead rather than turning up expecting to launch immediately. As a low-altitude coastal site, it works well for ridge soaring, and there's also a hike-in option for pilots who'd rather approach on foot than drive right up to launch.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Cabo de Santa Pola, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch.
