Where it is
Consuegra launches from around 809 m beside the town's famous windmills and castle in Castilla-La Mancha, and is a soaring and hike-and-fly site rather than a big thermal or XC destination. The main takeoff sits near an information signpost, in a cleared area facing southwest or west, though loose stones are scattered across the ground — watch your footing on launch. When the wind is too strong for the main spot, there's a backup: a wide, cleared area partway down the hill serves as an alternative launch. Getting there from Madrid means the A-4 to km 118, exiting toward Toledo, then following the Madridejos–Consuegra road and the signs into town and up to the castle. No specific flight rules apply here, but one wind-direction quirk is worth knowing: easterly winds can turn turbulent because of a large building nearby, so treat that direction with more caution than the numbers alone would suggest.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Consuegra, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Consuegra with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
