Esmelle is a coastal soaring site in Galicia, northwest Spain, launching off a narrow dune above a 20 m-high cliff in moderate west wind. It's a low, short site — well suited to hike-and-fly rather than big thermal days — with the ridge running along the coastline. Parking is on the road, followed by a roughly 200 m walk up to launch, which keeps access quick and straightforward. There's a beach nearby that serves as the landing option, so pilots can soar the cliff line and come down close to the water when conditions are right. Because the site only really works in moderate westerly wind, it's a narrow-window spot: good on the right day, but not one to force in cross or light conditions.
