Where it is
Genevilla is a thermal, soaring, cross-country and flatland site in northern Spain, near the La Rioja border, with launch at 937 m working on west and northwest wind. The takeoff itself is broad and carpeted, oriented toward the north with some tolerance either side, but it's noticeably steep and sits ringed by pines that generate thermal gusts on the ground. Reaching it takes commitment: a 4x4-capable track via Aguilar de Campo, or a 45-minute uphill hike on foot from the village of Genevilla with a serious elevation gain. Flying conditions favor moderate wind from the north-facing quadrant with a cloud base above 1,300 m, and pilots should watch for the wind picking up from mid-afternoon onward. Two local rules matter: circle low and slow over the village itself out of respect for residents, and if a flight heads toward La Rioja, pay attention to the LER99 zone and the restrictions around Agoncillo's controlled airspace.

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Genevilla, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch.
