Where it is
Pushkar sits in Rajasthan, India, about 240 km northeast of Jodhpur and close to Ajmer, and pilots fly here from a couple of different launches: the Savitri temple behind the lake at Pushkar, and the Nag ridge that runs between Pushkar and Ajmer. Reaching the Nag hill launch means hiking up near Sanjji Chat, the highest point on the road where it crosses over toward Pushkar. Both takeoffs sit on rocky terrain, which makes for a genuinely demanding launch — this isn't a site to underestimate. A handful of pilots flying the east side have landed at a clearing near the local bus stop at the base of Nag hill, though power lines in that area deserve real attention. The more typical landing, for southwest and west winds, is out on the dunes behind the town.
Launch & conditions
Two launches are used: the Savitri temple behind the lake at Pushkar, and the Nag ridge running between Pushkar and Ajmer, reached by hiking up near Sanjji Chat. Both sit on rocky terrain, which makes for a genuinely demanding takeoff.
Getting there & local rules
Reaching launch means walking up — there's no vehicle access.
Local rules & hazards
Near the base of Nag Hill, where some pilots land after flying the east side, watch closely for power lines.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Pushkar, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Pushkar with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
