Where it is

ThermalsCross-countryHike & fly

Maso Tais sits above the small hotel of the same name in the Trentino's Val Cismon, near Tonadico and Fiera di Primiero. It's a wide south-facing grass field, not steep — sometimes you need to run properly to take off if the wind is light. The windsock is on the left, mounted on top of a tree. Thermals typically start at 12:00 and run until 17:00. In spring and summer the central hours are only recommended for experienced pilots, but towards evening the site opens up beautifully for less experienced pilots to enjoy smooth soaring off the south and south-west takeoff.

Launch & conditions

Wide south-facing grass field, not steep — in light wind you may need to run for takeoff. Windsock is on the left side on top of a tree. Thermals 12:00–17:00.

Getting there & local rules

From Trento: A22, exit Egna-Ora, follow Valle di Fiemme through Cavalese, Moena, Predazzo; then towards Passo Rolle and Primiero to Tonadico. From Bassano/Veneto: towards Trento, take the Fiera di Primiero exit, then to Tonadico (about an hour from Bassano). From Tonadico, follow signs for Maso Tais. Landing: on the side of the road from Siror to Tonadico — large flat area with a windsock in the middle. Land only in fields already cut, or expect a farmer with a pitchfork. Top-landing on the takeoff itself is also possible.

Local rules & hazards

No powered paragliding allowed. Watch out for moderate winds from the N and E — those turn the area very dangerous and turbulent. Central hours of spring/summer days (13:00–16:00) are recommended for experienced pilots only.

Check conditions before you fly

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Maso Tais, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Maso Tais with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.

A day counts as flyable when the surface wind held in your range, from a direction the site flies, with no rain, for at least 2 hours in a row (08:00–20:00) — from hourly 10 m wind over the last 12 months. A seasonal wind guide only: it can't judge gusts, thermals or turbulence, and never replaces the live forecast, airspace checks and your own judgement.
