Kannami (eX Paragliding)

Kannami, run by the eX Paragliding operation, launches from 641 m just off the Izu Skyline road in Shizuoka Prefecture, about 300 m above the landing zone. It's known as a friendly, well-organized site — English is limited, but support for motivated pilots is strong, and visitors are welcome for a daily fee of 3,000 yen plus 500 yen for transport up to launch. From Tokyo, driving takes about 2.5 hours via the Tomei Expressway to Numazu and then Route 136; by train, Kannami Station on the JR Tokaido Line is also about 2.5 hours out, with pickup available daily at 8:30 or 9:30am for a 500 yen fee (reserve the day before) and a similarly priced return service in the afternoon. Flying here follows standard Japanese aviation regulations, and while winds can run high, they're considered easy to forecast well in advance thanks to the site's predictable sea-breeze pattern. Landing is over local rice paddies, onto an elevated, well-maintained landing pad.
