Pachacamac

Pachacamac, launching from Punta Blanca at around 451 m in the hills south of Lima, has a reputation as an easy, welcoming site to fly — thermals here tend to be gentle rather than punchy, and both the takeoff and landing are straightforward. The launch spot itself is compact, dusty in summer and greener in winter, when more vegetation keeps gliders cleaner on the ground. You'll want your own car to get here comfortably; bus and taxi are technically possible but genuinely difficult. Local instructors and schools fly the site almost daily, so talking to them before your visit is a good way to get oriented. There are no specific flight rules on the mountain, and wind works from southeast through south, southwest and west. The main landing field is large, easy for both paragliders and hang gliders, and the owner is happy to have pilots there — but a second landing area closer to takeoff belongs to a different, unwelcoming owner and landing there can be genuinely risky, so stick to the main field. Mountain bikers also use the area, so keep an eye out for them on the ground.
