Where it is
East Beach in Galveston, Texas is a flatland flying site with a narrow, firm calendar: it's only open to flying from November through February. Outside that window, the city charges a beach access fee and the sand gets too crowded with beachgoers to share safely. Ultralight flying was banned here in the past after conflicts, and access has since been restored — a privilege worth protecting by sticking strictly to those four months. Airspace is a real factor too: pilots can't fly any further west than Pleasure Pier without entering Class D airspace, though crossing over to the Bolivar Peninsula is possible while maintaining a safe altitude. Powered paramotor pilots making that crossing should plan for above 4,000 ft AGL, since it's a 2.25-mile stretch of open water and only sensible when the wind is genuinely cooperating — know your wind direction and speed aloft before committing to it.
Launch & conditions
This flatland beach site is only open to flying from November through February — outside that window it's off-limits, both by rule and because the beach gets too crowded with visitors.
Getting there & local rules
Access is seasonal and tied strictly to November, December, January and February; the city charges a beach fee and the sand is too busy with beachgoers the rest of the year.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to East Beach, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open East Beach with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
