Indian Creek Air Park

Indian Creek Air Park is a Texas scooter-tow flying site, primarily an instruction operation that's happy to welcome recreational pilots too — though visitors may need scooter-tow training before flying. The longest cross-country flight from here is 22 miles with 6,000 ft of gain (Dave Broyles on a Gin Rebel). Suitable winds are SE to SW and NE to NW; light winds in any direction work. The field is only open to flying when the operator is on site — call ahead to check.

Getting there & local rules

From Dallas: US75 north towards McKinney; 4.1 miles past SR380, exit SR121 north; 13.7 miles NE to SR160; right onto SR160 south for ~½ mile to SR78; left towards Leonard; 1.9 miles to Nobility (a few houses); in the centre of Nobility, left onto FM4910 north; ~0.55 miles (the road zigs) to a T-intersection; right at the T. If hay is growing in the fields, the owner does not want cars or trucks driving on it — never drive down the centre of the field.

Local rules & hazards

USHPA membership required (temporary memberships available). Fly only with permission from the operator. Heavy rain temporarily makes the fields unusable. Strong winds over 10 mph won't work for paragliders; very strong winds over 15 mph won't work for hang gliders.
