Move Strava or Garmin flights to OutDare
Strava offers Export Original (often FIT), Export GPX and an emailed ZIP archive. Garmin’s third-party instructions describe FIT and a ZIP data export.
Export your flights
One Strava activity on the website
- Open the activity and choose ….
- Choose Export Original (often FIT) or Export GPX.
All Strava activities
- Go to Settings > My Account > Download or Delete Your Account.
- Choose Get Started, then Request your archive.

Garmin Connect, per Garmin’s site as described by a third-party guide
- For one activity, open its ⚙ menu and choose Export Original to get FIT.
- For bulk export, use your Garmin account: Data Management > Export Your Data. The ZIP can take days.
Exact steps are unconfirmed. Check your vario’s software or the device’s own help.
Import into OutDare
- Open OutDare, then Record > My flights > ↓ Import flights.
- Tap “Choose files” and select your IGC, GPX, FIT or ZIP files, many at once. Or tap “Choose a folder (from your vario)” and select the whole flight folder.
- Review the selection, then import the selected flights.
On the review screen, new flights are ticked. Flights already in your logbook are marked and left out. Importing a track for an existing XContest stats-only entry adds that track.
Before you import
- Garmin’s official help pages were unreachable during the facts check. The Garmin steps come from a third-party guide and may differ; check Garmin’s site.
- Choose flight files in IGC, GPX or FIT, or ZIPs containing them. OutDare’s review screen lets you check the selection.
- Folder import: up to 2,000 files, 50 MB per file and 500 MB total.
- OutDare does not read KML. Converting KML or GPX to IGC does not create a valid G-record, so XContest will not score those conversions. Import GPX directly into OutDare instead. XContest FAQ
- Imported tracks get 3D replay and join your logbook, records and passport.
Your imported flights stay private
Imported flights stay private until you choose to share them. A new flight is never more public than your Activity setting.
