Hinterglemm (Zwolferkogel)

Hinterglemm (Zwölferkogel) is a big, versatile launch above Saalbach-Hinterglemm in Austria's Pinzgau region, at just under 1,920 m — the wind rose here covers all eight main directions, which is unusually flexible and means the site is rarely out of play whatever way the forecast turns. Access is by the Zwölferkogel gondola, followed by a short walk of roughly 150 m down from the top station to reach the takeoff, which usually faces south to southeast. The scale of the mountain and the reliable thermal activity make it a genuine cross-country launch as well as a solid soaring and hike-friendly hill, drawing pilots who want more than a short sled ride. Landing is in a large field east of Hinterglemm village, big enough to be forgiving for pilots coming in with varying amounts of height in hand.
