Where it is
Flumserberge–Maschgenkamm is a high-altitude launch above Flums in the canton of St. Gallen, Switzerland, reached directly by cable car from Unterterzen or Flumserberg — no hike required to get to the takeoff. At just under 2,000 m the launch sits well above the valley floor, and it opens a wide window that works from north, east, southeast, south or northwest, so pilots can usually find a facing wind somewhere on the mountain even when the forecast looks mixed elsewhere in the Walensee region. The takeoff itself sits right beside the top gondola station, marked with a windsock and an information board listing the site's current local rules — worth a look before every flight rather than trusting memory. Landings are down in the valley at Walenstadt or Flums, both within the range most pilots plan for after a Maschgenkamm launch. The easy lift access makes it a popular after-work and weekend spot for pilots based around Lake Walen, and the long ridge gives room to work thermals or ridge-soar depending on the day.
Launch & conditions
Takeoff is right beside the gondola's top station, marked by a windsock and an infoboard listing the current local rules.
Getting there & local rules
Cable car direct from Unterterzen or Flumserberg to the top station — no hike needed to reach the launch.
Local rules & hazards
Swiss airspace here is layered and easy to misjudge, so check the current active-danger-area status before flying. Föhn is a real hazard on this ridge — strong, gusty foehn conditions can turn dangerous fast, so stand down when it's blowing.
