Gumengrat

Gumengrat launches from 2,020 m in the Swiss Alps above Braunwald, a steep meadow launch with a windsock, flyable in south wind and known locally as a solid thermal site. Getting up is straightforward: take the cable railway to Braunwald, then a gondola to Gumen, followed by about a 20-minute hike to launch. There's a wildlife protection area on the opposite side of the valley that pilots need to keep clear of when flying here. Both Föhn and valley wind affect this site, so check the forecast for both before committing to a flight. Landing is in a large meadow — stay close to the river when you land there, since that's the recommended approach line for this field.
