Hummel (Oben)

Hummel (Oben) is a mountain flying site in central Switzerland, at about 1,330 m, reached by a 30-60 minute hike up from the landing zone, and offering thermal, soaring and hike-access flying with wind favorable from the north or northeast. It's specifically known as a “Bise” site, meaning it depends on a sufficiently strong northeasterly bise wind to come alive — in light or wrong-direction wind it simply doesn't work, but when the bise is blowing at real strength, pilots can soar here for hours. Swiss airspace around this region carries restrictions and active danger areas that change, so checking current airspace status before flying matters here as it does across the country.
