Pfingstegg

Pfingstegg is a west-facing launch above Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, sitting at around 1,410 m. Because the takeoff only opens cleanly to the west, the wind forecast needs to line up fairly precisely — this isn't a site with a fallback direction to rely on when the wind swings. Landing is at Grund in the valley below, the same field used for flights off Grindelwald-First, so it's a familiar, well-established landing zone if you've already flown other launches in the area. Grindelwald's dramatic setting under the Eiger north face makes this a scenic, popular corner of the Bernese Oberland for paragliding, and the valley's tourist infrastructure — cable cars, trains, plenty of accommodation — makes it an easy base for a multi-day flying trip. As with most Swiss Alpine sites, airspace here is layered, so checking current restrictions before flying is worth doing rather than assuming yesterday's conditions still apply.
