Where it is

Rinerhorn is a high mountain launch at about 2,490 metres near Davos, in the Graubünden Alps of Switzerland, with a southwest-facing takeoff. Like other sites in this valley, it's reached by gondola from the Davos–Glaris area, so pilots don't need to hike the whole way up. The launch works with a southwest wind specifically, so a visit is worth timing around a forecast that actually delivers that direction. One restriction is essential to know before planning a trip: during the World Economic Forum, held annually in Davos, the entire airspace around the town is closed to flying without exception, so check the WEF dates first if visiting around that time of year. Outside of the WEF window, Switzerland's general airspace complexity still applies, and it's worth confirming current restrictions before flying rather than assuming nothing has changed. Between the gondola access and the altitude, Rinerhorn is a solid mountain option for pilots comfortable at height who plan their trip around both wind and calendar.
