Where it is
Teno – San Isidro is a thermal and hike-and-fly site in central Chile, launching about 420 m above the landing area in south, southwest or west wind. It's private land, so pilots need permission from the landowner before flying here — this isn't a walk-up public site. Access is preferably by 4x4 along the road that runs up to the cell-phone towers, though walking up is also possible. In summer the site tends to get windy, and conditions are better after around 17:00, so an evening flight window works best in the hot months. Landing is easy: the area is agricultural with many possible landing fields, which also makes rescue straightforward if something goes wrong. Between the permission requirement and the strong summer wind, this is a site to plan for rather than show up to on a whim, but the flexible landing options make it a forgiving one once you're in the air.
