Cocorna

Cocorná is a thermal flying site in Antioquia, Colombia, launching at about 1,814 m in north, northeast or east wind. A reliable thermal often forms right off launch, giving pilots an easy climb to cloudbase and a wide view over the valley — from there, short cross-country flights are straightforward. The site is relatively new, and the current takeoff, next to a local kiosk, is short and steep; it works fine with a good headwind but can be tricky without one, and a better launch option is reportedly being sought for the future. Once airborne, the reliable thermal and the valley views are the highlight, making Cocorná a worthwhile stop for pilots after dependable lift and easy short XC in this part of Colombia.
