Where it is
Parapente Los Cerezos launches from 3,045 m in Sopó, Cundinamarca, close to Bogotá, with a synthetic-carpet takeoff and dependably constant wind right at the ramp — a genuinely reliable launch rather than one that needs the wind to cooperate. Wind from the north through northeast, east, southeast and south all work here, opening up thermic, soaring, cross-country, hike-and-fly and flatland flying depending on the day. Getting there from Bogotá takes about 40 minutes via the Autopista Norte to Sopó; from the well-known Alpina dairy plant, a further 5 km climb by car leads up the mountain to launch. Landing is where this site really shines: pilots can top-land back at launch, or choose from several ground options, including the official zone known as 'Intermedio' — wide and straightforward — plus a handful of alternates near the parking area, at a spacious kite-flying field with notably gentle conditions, and at a school field nearby. With that many landing choices spread around the zone, it's a forgiving site to finish a flight at even when conditions shift during the day.
