Where it is
Parapente Paraíso launches from 3,045 m in Sopó, Cundinamarca, with sweeping views over the Bogotá savanna and food and drinks available right at the site — a launch that doubles as a proper day out. The takeoff is a grass field with room for six gliders to launch at the same time, so it handles a busy weekend without much of a bottleneck. Getting there from Bogotá takes about 40 minutes via the Autopista Norte to Sopó, followed by a roughly 4 km drive up the mountain that's manageable by car all the way to the launch — no hiking required to get airborne. Wind from the northeast, east or southeast works the site for thermic and soaring flights, and the terrain also supports hike-and-fly outings for pilots who want to walk part of the route. Landing options are flexible: top-landing back at launch, coming down in the valley, or landing at the base of the mountain, giving pilots room to choose depending on how the day's flight develops.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Parapente Paraiso, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Parapente Paraiso with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
