Loma del Gato

Loma del Gato is a coastal launch on Spain's Costa Tropical in Granada province, flown from around 432 m in south to southwest wind. It sits inside the R111 restricted airspace zone, so pilots need to check the current airspace status before heading up — access here isn't guaranteed day to day. The old beach landing is no longer usable: pilots now land near the Playacalida hotel, close to the village of Itrabo and the Alfamar development. Low flying over the surrounding houses, flats and urbanisations is not permitted below 300 m, so keeping height over the built-up parts of the coast is expected here. With favourable south or southwest wind and clear airspace, it's a workable coastal site along this stretch of the Granada coastline, but the local restrictions mean it rewards checking conditions and airspace before you rig.
