Tenerife – Jama

Tenerife – Jama is a thermal launch just off the TF-565 road near Vilaflor, with space for two or three wings to lay out and, on a strong day with 300 m or more over launch, the chance to push west between the flat-topped Conde and the sharp peak of Ifonche and on into the Fañabé valley, continuing along the hills toward Taucho and Los Gigantes. Respecting the airspace here matters for the site's future: flying beyond the marked mountain to the west risks entering Tenerife South airport's traffic zone, and reaching Conde and continuing south toward Los Cristianos beach is off-limits too. An easterly wind can bring real turbulence and rotor downwind at the landing zone. Landing itself is a small, roughly square field with cables nearby, so first-time visitors are strongly encouraged to check it out on the ground before flying rather than relying on the view from the air. Mountain bikers have also started using jumps built in the same field recently, sharing the space with landing paragliders, so watch for riders coming through at speed.

Local rules & hazards

Flying beyond the marked mountain to the west risks entering the airport traffic zone at Tenerife South, and reaching Conde and continuing south toward Los Cristianos is also off-limits — both matter for keeping the site open. An easterly wind can bring real turbulence and rotor downwind at the landing zone.
