Where it is
Collet de Tat, above Superdévoluy in the French Alps, is a cliff launch at 1,705 m that rewards careful pilots with a genuinely nice 360° view across the Dévoluy massif — and works well on days when west or northwest wind is blowing too strong for the Buëch valley below to be flyable. Access runs from just past Rioupes on a small road that turns into a rough track; most pilots leave the car there, though a 4x4 can continue closer to the GPS point marked 'Collet du Tât' on the IGN map, leaving a 20-to-25-minute walk to the top of the cliff. Summer flying needs extra care around midday, when the general meteorological wind and the local valley breeze can add together and strengthen right over the landing points. The recommended landing is one of several fields below the site — the marked option is easy and sits close to the road — though landing directly at Collet du Tât itself is possible if you're prepared for a venturi effect that can turn strong there.
Launch & conditions
This is a cliff launch — treat it with real caution. It works especially well when west or northwest wind is too strong for the Buëch valley below.
Getting there & local rules
From just past Rioupes, take the small road; when it turns into a track, most pilots leave the car there (a 4x4 can continue further) toward the GPS point marked 'Collet du Tât' on the IGN map, leaving a 20–25 minute walk to the top of the cliff.
Local rules & hazards
In summer, watch for the midday combination of the general meteorological wind and the local valley breeze, which can add together and strengthen right over the landing points. Landing directly at Collet du Tât is possible but the venturi effect there can be strong.
