Where it is
S.Antonio – Costa del Mito is a coastal soaring site in Cilento, southern Italy, that works well for winter visitors and holidaymakers alike — a good pick precisely because so many other sites shut down in the cold months. The main launch faces west, sending pilots out to soar along the kilometer-long ridge above Mingardo beach, directly over the sea; on spring days thermal activity is strong enough to reach real altitude — 700–800 m — right out over the water. There is also an east-facing launch on the opposite side of the ridge, useful when the wind sits in the opposite quadrant, with views toward the center of Marina di Camerota. Either launch is reachable by any vehicle. Landing is on the wide, kilometer-long beach below, open to pilots from mid-September through the start of June — but landing there in June, July and August is strongly discouraged, since the beach fills with sunbathers and beach facilities by then.
Launch & conditions
The main launch faces west, over the long ridge above Mingardo beach and out over the sea; spring thermals here can reach 700–800 m. A second, east-facing launch sits on the opposite side of the ridge for days when the wind favors that quadrant.
Getting there & local rules
From Marina di Camerota, follow signs toward Camerota village; before reaching the village, turn left onto a switchback road signed 'agriturismo Capocanto'. The antennas and pylons at the hilltop mark the launch, at their base.
