Where it is
Tivoli sits on Monte Ripoli outside Rome, a panoramic soaring site with room for some cross-country over the surrounding plains and nearby hills. Take-off is a huge grassy field right at the parking area on the mountaintop — plenty of room for everyone, though there are some sharp rocks to watch for on the left side. To reach it, follow signs from Tivoli toward Monte Ripoli and the Planet Tivoli restaurant; if the access gate is locked, wait for someone from the local club or, if nobody's around, park outside and walk the last stretch on the trekking trail — about ten minutes to launch. Airspace matters here: the controlled zone starts at the highway and the village of Ponte Lucano directly in front of the site, so pilots need to stay well back from both. Two large grassy fields to the left of take-off are strictly off-limits for landing. The sea breeze tends to strengthen through the afternoon, so a speed bar is essential kit here, not an option.

Getting there & local rules
Follow signs from Tivoli toward Monte Ripoli and the Planet Tivoli restaurant; if the gate is closed, wait for someone from the local club or park outside and walk the trekking trail — about ten minutes to launch.
Local rules & hazards
Stay well clear of the highway and the village of Ponte Lucano in front of launch — controlled airspace begins there — and never land in the two large grassy fields to the left of take-off. The afternoon sea breeze can build to real strength, so carry a speed bar and be ready to use it.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Tivoli, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Tivoli with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
