Val d'Ultimo / Ultental (Schwemmalm) offers Alpine flying in South Tyrol, workable in all southerly winds and also in light NE and NW. Winter opens launches up to 2,600 m ASL on the Schwemmalm, summer up to 2,000 m; you can also hike up to the Mutegg summit on foot. The landing area is extremely spacious. Valley wind typically fills in during the morning — the 'Hausbart' airflow moves from the church of St. Moritz over the power-plant air tower and is a good visual cue for pilots.

Local rules & hazards

Valley wind typically fills in during the morning — the local 'Hausbart' pattern (visible from the church of St. Moritz over to the power-plant air tower) is a reliable cue. Beware the valley wind at the LZ.

A day counts as flyable when the surface wind held in your range, from a direction the site flies, with no rain, for at least 2 hours in a row (08:00–20:00) — from hourly 10 m wind over the last 12 months. A seasonal wind guide only: it can't judge gusts, thermals or turbulence, and never replaces the live forecast, airspace checks and your own judgement.
