Where it is
Tomé is a soaring site on the coast near Concepción, Chile, launching at about 130 m in north, west or northwest wind. From launch there are views over the city of Tomé and Quiriquina Island, making it a scenic ridge as well as a flyable one. The takeoff is rated intermediate and requires solid wing-inflation skills, so it's not the easiest first coastal site to try. It's reached about 30 km north of Concepción, on the Caracol hill along the access road into Tomé. Landing is easy, down at Bellavista beach. With a confident kiting and inflation technique and the right wind direction, Tomé rewards pilots with a genuinely scenic coastal soaring session.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Tome, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Tome with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
