Where it is
Yuscarán in Honduras is a north-east-facing launch at 1,450 m ASL, 4.5 km up a rough road above the village. Launch is compact and challenging with a fence, so you need 12–20 km/h of wind or thermal cycles to launch easily. About 650 m of vertical to the LZs, with 60+ km cross-country flights already flown from here. Dry season (late February to end of May) gives high cloudbase and a mix of mountain thermal and flatland flying. Winter (November to February) is often windy. Nobody has flown a hang glider here yet, but the launch looks suitable.
Launch & conditions
NE-facing launch at 1,450 m ASL, 4.5 km up a rough road from Yuscarán. Compact and challenging with a fence — need 12–20 km/h wind or thermal cycles to launch easily. ~650 m vertical to the LZs. 60+ km XC flown from here.
Getting there & local rules
From Tegucigalpa, take the highway east towards Danli. Turn south off the highway ~53 km from Tegucigalpa; 17 km from that junction is Yuscarán. The road up the mountain begins just before entering the town. From launch you can see both landing fields. LZs: El Llano out east over the flatlands (normal LZ, ~4 km SE of Yuscarán by road, ~4.5 km flight path from launch) and the football stadium directly below launch on the road south out of Yuscarán (bail-out, always an easy glide).
Local rules & hazards
Tropical conditions — no flight suits needed, but it can overdevelop quickly in the rainy season. Windy conditions common November–February. Dry season February–May is the best flying window. Avoid late-day flights in the rainy season except on clear days — frequent thunderstorms.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to yuscaran, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open yuscaran with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.

Flyable days by month
A day counts as flyable when the surface wind held in your range, from a direction the site flies, with no rain, for at least 2 hours in a row (08:00–20:00) — from hourly 10 m wind over the last 12 months. A seasonal wind guide only: it can't judge gusts, thermals or turbulence, and never replaces the live forecast, airspace checks and your own judgement.
