Where it is

Soaring

Laigueglia – Capo Mele is a low coastal soaring site on the Ligurian Riviera, launching from a pronounced slope at 209 m with a wind window covering north through southeast. The take-off needs wind to work, and pilots should watch for two large trees positioned right in front of the launch point. Landing is the whole beach below, though the usable space shrinks as the tide comes in, so it pays to keep that in mind on final approach. One firm rule here: landing on the beach is prohibited from 1 May to 1 October each year, which rules this site out for summer flying and makes it primarily an off-season soaring spot. To reach launch, park in Via Semaforo in the 'villaggio olandese' area of Andora — being mindful of residents — then follow the path up on the right at the end of the street, continuing right for another 10–15 metres once at the top.
