Pauli Arbarei is a low, easy-going site in the Cagliari province of Sardinia, used mainly as a practice field for paraglider pilots. At just 249 m altitude with an 80–100 m top-to-bottom height, it's built for short, low-consequence flights rather than long soaring runs. There are actually two separate launches about 500 m apart: one faces west through southwest, the other west through northwest, so pilots can pick whichever matches the day's wind. Both offer straightforward soaring along the hillside, and on the right day a thermal off the surrounding grain fields can extend the flight beyond a simple sled run. The landing is in the wide open fields directly below the hills, giving plenty of margin for pilots still building their spot-landing accuracy. It's a useful site for newer pilots to log airtime close to Cagliari, and for anyone passing through Sardinia looking for a gentle, low-stakes flying day.

Launch & conditions

Two launches 500 m apart: one facing W–SW, the other W–NW — pick whichever suits the wind. Low top-to-bottom height (around 80–100 m) makes for short, easy flights, used locally as a practice site.

Getting there & local rules

Reached by the country road between Pauli Arbarei and Tuili: turn off about 3 km from the village for the first launch, or about 4 km along the same road for the second.

Check conditions before you fly

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Pauli Arbarei, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Pauli Arbarei with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
