Stribugliano

Stribugliano sits above the Maremma in Grosseto province, Tuscany, and is the main takeoff used by the local Contronembo flying club — a wide, grass-covered launch that locals rate as reliable, with a good pitch for both solo and tandem paragliders as well as hang gliders. It's the classic starting point for cross-country flights across the surrounding Maremma countryside, and pilots also use it for thermalling and ridge soaring in more local sessions when conditions don't invite a long run. Flyable directions cover south-west, west and north-west, matching the prevailing airflow off the Tyrrhenian side of Tuscany. The official landing field is large enough to feel almost like a small airfield, so a normal approach is straightforward and low-stress, and the surrounding countryside offers plenty of alternative landing options if a pilot can't quite make it back to the main field — useful reassurance on a longer cross-country attempt that doesn't come home exactly as planned.
