Where it is

ThermalsSoaring

Su Vrau – spot Sud launches at 362 m in north-east Sardinia near Torpè, a south-east-facing take-off that also works with wind from the east or south. Reaching it involves driving from Torpè along an unpaved ('white') road to a marked parking area, then continuing on foot to the launch along a trail described as reasonably well maintained rather than an overgrown scramble. Thermal and soaring conditions both feature at this site, giving pilots a couple of ways to use the same launch depending on how the day develops. The south-facing orientation and easy walk-in make it a fairly approachable spot for pilots already in the Torpè area, without the longer hikes or technical access that some Sardinian launches require. Between the graded gravel drive and the maintained footpath to launch, Su Vrau – spot Sud is a low-friction addition to the sites around this stretch of Sardinia's north-east coast.
